This forum is where you would need to ask questions about the mechanics of the class. Like due dates, assignment questions, who's bringing the snacks, etc.

I tried to post once already but I'm not seeing it show up. I am going to try again. This is my first time trying a "blog" so I'm a little unsure. Did anyone do all the readings for the first night? It was a lot of information to process!

Yeah! i got it. I put an management thing on the comments so that nothing inappropriate would show up without my approval. So congratulations on being the first! I think i may have told you all ,com instead of .org...sorry!
It is a lot of information to process. Because of the timing of the class it is difficult to get it all in- precisely why we had you turn in your papers today rather than as we go...You would be miserable! :(
The information will hopefully clear up as the week continues - make sure you take note of the questions you need answered and we will do our best to clarify.

As I was driving home this afternoon, I thought about the "stir" that the cameras caused. I want you to know the thought behind the idea and that may clear up what is asked of you. My thoughts are this: we are teaching the "eye generation." And in doing so we need to join the technologically advanced group of children that are hot on our heels. As you are going through your night or day with the camera, just look around you. Notice things around you that you may have never seen before or things you haven't noticed. The language connection that may be subtle or obvious. This is not an extra assignment, not a third head or arm simply an idea. We talk about student learning styles- this is your opportunity to try something new in a no-risk situation. Seize the day! Color outside my box...I dare you! :)

Okay Ladies and gentleman, you are officially finished with 4 levels of developmental word study. Now you can be the expert in your building! I liked the way that Tina presented her content connections today. As our instructional time becomes more and more limited as well as structured, we will have to be more creative with what we do. I think front-loading the students with vocabulary is an important concept. What did you guys think? How do you address the content vocab? When?

I just spent the last hour trying to get onto this blog. I hope this gets. I enjoyed the class. I am really looking forward to Make It/Take It tomorrow. I think it will be great to make new activities to implement in my classroom. I do feel that working on vocab. to introduce content area is very important. Then you can use flash cards throughout that unit. Let's see if anyone gets this!

Now that you are "in" you have gotten bonus points! Thanks for sticking with it!

Make it, take is one of my favorite days too! I'm glad that you were able to find activities that are appropriate for your teaching assignment.

What did you guys think of Doc? I love his passion for teaching. It's contagious! After he leaves, I always want to read an etymology dictionary! :)

I thought Doc was awsome. He kept me entertained, and I could really tell he knows his stuff. I love teachers that can take a some what dull topic and make them fun. I never knew that words could be so much fun, but this class has taught me that.

I thought doc was great. He was very interesting and I remembered the battle of Hastings. I never remember dates. He also made learning about words fun. It was a great day. I got to make a lot of great things in make it/take it. Yah!
